The travel grant program has closed. There were many excellent applications. We retain the information below for the record.
Students and others with financial hardship are eligible to apply for a very limited number of travel grants. These will be for waived registration and some assistance with expenses. Deadline: 23 October 2009 for receipt of all materials. To apply, you must:
- Complete registration on this web site
- Check the “travel grant” checkbox when registering
- Submit an abstract
- Have your supervisor send via email to email@example.com a letter on letterhead, signed, and scanned into a PDF document requesting travel support to the conference. It should state your position at the institution (graduate student, etc.), what project you are working on, its status (e.g., paper submitted to a refereed journal), with whom you are working, and that there are otherwise no research funds to pay for your trip to the meeting. If another, non-research funding source is available (e.g., student organization, departmental funds), describe it and the amount to be received (such a shared-cost commitment is in your favor but is not required). Non-student personnel working without support may write their own letters but should explain their circumstances.
If applying for a travel grant, do not pay now. You will be considered registered if you complete all of the above by 23 October 2009. If you are not awarded a travel grant, we will accept your payment at the Early Bird rate within two weeks of our emailing travel grant decisions.
